Customization

Do you offer custom colors and logos on FRP manhole covers?
Absolutely. We offer full customization options for FRP manhole covers:\n\nColors: Our standard color range includes black, dark grey, green, blue, and terracotta. Custom RAL colors are available with minimum order quantities.\n\nLogo & Branding: We can mold your company logo, municipal crest, or project-specific text directly into the cover surface during the compression molding process. This creates a permanent, vandal-resistant marking that will not wear off over time.\n\nSurface Finishes: We offer anti-slip surface patterns including diamond plate, chevron, and custom textures for improved traction.\n\nCustom Markings: Text such as WATER, SEWER, ELECTRIC, TELECOM, or any other specification can be molded in raised or recessed lettering.\n\nPlease provide your artwork or specifications, and our engineering team will create a mold to your exact requirements.

Products & Materials

What is an FRP manhole cover?
An FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) manhole cover is a lightweight, high-strength access cover manufactured from composite materials — typically fiberglass reinforced with polyester or vinyl ester resin. Unlike traditional cast iron covers, FRP manhole covers are non-corrosive, non-conductive, and weigh approximately one-third of their cast iron equivalents. At FRP Cover, we manufacture our FRP manhole covers using advanced SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) compression molding technology, ensuring consistent quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with EN124 load rating standards. These covers are widely used in municipal infrastructure, road construction, utility access, drainage systems, and industrial projects worldwide.
What are the advantages of FRP manhole covers over cast iron?
FRP manhole covers offer several significant advantages over traditional cast iron:\n\n1. Lightweight: FRP covers weigh approximately 65-70% less than cast iron — a typical 600x600 D400 FRP cover weighs only 18-22 kg versus 55-70 kg for cast iron. This dramatically reduces transportation costs and allows single-person installation.\n\n2. Theft-Proof: FRP has no scrap metal value, eliminating the theft problem that plagues cast iron covers in many regions.\n\n3. Corrosion Resistant: FRP does not rust or corrode, making it ideal for wastewater, chemical, and coastal environments.\n\n4. Non-Conductive: FRP is electrically non-conductive and non-magnetic, providing safety in electrical utility applications.\n\n5. Customizable: FRP can be molded into any shape, size, and color, with custom logos molded directly into the surface.\n\n6. Longer Service Life: FRP covers last 30+ years with minimal maintenance compared to cast iron which typically requires replacement every 15-20 years in corrosive environments.
Are FRP manhole covers theft-proof?
Yes, FRP manhole covers are effectively theft-proof. Unlike cast iron covers, which are frequently stolen for scrap metal value (selling at /bin/zsh.10-0.20 per pound), FRP composite materials have zero scrap metal value, making them completely unattractive to thieves. This is one of the primary reasons municipalities and utility companies worldwide are switching to FRP covers.\n\nAdditionally, many of our FRP manhole covers can be fitted with optional locking systems, including stainless steel bolts, tamper-proof fasteners, and key-operated locking mechanisms for added security in high-risk areas.

Quality & Certifications

What certifications do your FRP manhole covers have?
Our FRP manhole covers carry the following certifications and comply with international standards:\n\nEN124:2015 — European standard for manhole covers and gully tops. All load classes A15 through F900 are certified.\n\nISO 9001:2015 — Our manufacturing facility is ISO 9001 certified for quality management systems.\n\nCE Marking — Our products carry CE marking in accordance with applicable EU directives.\n\nLoad Test Reports — Each batch is tested in our in-house laboratory with calibrated hydraulic testing equipment. Test certificates are provided with every shipment.\n\nMaterial Test Reports — We provide material composition and mechanical property reports including tensile strength, flexural strength, and density data upon request.\n\nFire Resistance — Our FRP material formulations meet UL94 V-0 and BS476 fire resistance standards (available on request).\n\nWe can also arrange third-party testing by SGS, TÜV, or Intertek at the buyer's request.
